Lincoln birthday events planned at historic sites

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Sites around Illinois where Abraham Lincoln made history are planning events to celebrate his birthday.

Lincoln was born Feb. 12, 1809, in Kentucky, but spent much of his adult life in Illinois.

The locations planning events include a meeting of the Abraham Lincoln Association on Thursday at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield. The meeting will include many top Lincoln scholars.

The Old State Capitol will also host a birthday dance with the Springfield International Folk Dancers on Friday.

Other events will be held at Lincoln Tomb State Historic in Springfield, the Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site and the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site in Lerna in eastern Illinois.
