Police: 3 dead in suburban Chicago apparent murder-suicide

OAK FOREST, Ill. (AP) - Police say they found a father, mother and their teenage son dead in suburban Chicago in an apparent double homicide and suicide.

Police and the Cook County medical examiner identified the dead as 54-year-old David Joost, 55-year-old Margaret O'Leary-Joost and 18-year-old Daniel Joost. Police say their bodies were found about 8 p.m. Monday in their Oak Forest home. Police were responding to a request for a well-being check.

Oak Forest police said David Joost recently lost his job and was struggling financially.

Police said David Joost's body was found hanging in the garage with cut wrists and the car left running. Police say Joost's wife and son were found in bed and appeared to be strangled.

Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday. Causes of death have not officially been determined.
