Smoke prompts Batavia school evacuation

Smoke from an overheated motor in the climate-control system prompted the evacuation Monday morning of Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia.

School workers called the Batavia Fire Department at 9:55 a.m. when they noticed the smoke in the lower level of the school, 2300 Main St.

No one was injured, according to Battalion Chief Ed Jancauskas.
