Community STEAM Night Huge Hit with Kids and Parents

Over 200 people flooded Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine to enjoy the many fun and educational activities offered at Community STEAM Night last week. STEAM is an acronym for "Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math."

Among the featured activities were a "Bernoulli Box" which helped children understand airflow and how airplanes stay aloft, a "CSI" exercise in a middle school science classroom where children investigated and solved a crime by following clues, "Geariosity" demonstrating radial and linear motion, and "Rub a Dub" that allowed children to create works of art. Busy Brains Children's Museum brought their traveling exhibits and other projects were designed by Immanuel's teachers.

"Seeing the excitement as the students are exploring science, math, art and other activities is thrilling. Their creativity and problem solving skills are being challenged tonight, but the kids are having so much fun experiencing STEAM concepts they don't even notice," said Immanuel Principal Delaine Schiestel.
