Falcons hire former Chiefs assistant GM Joel Collier

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - The Atlanta Falcons continue to shake up their front office, hiring Joel Collier as director of pro personnel.

The hiring was announced Monday by general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Collier joins the Falcons after a five-year stint as Kansas City's assistant general manager, which ended after the 2013 season. With the Chiefs, he worked under Scott Pioli, who is now Atlanta's assistant GM.

After an 8-8 debut with first-year coach Dan Quinn, the Falcons decided to keep Dimitroff but revamp their player-evaluation system. They already brought in former GMs Phil Emery and Ruston Webster as national scouts.

Collier has also worked for New England, Miami and Tampa Bay. He is the son of Joe Collier, former head coach of the Buffalo Bills and a defensive coordinator in Denver and New England.
