Prison for pair accused of 4 Fox Valley robberies

Two people charged in four armed robberies in late 2014 in Elgin and Carpentersville have been sentenced to prison.

Joshua Hampton, 26, of Chicago, was sentenced to 17 years after pleading guilty to armed robbery on the eve of his jury trial, which was to begin Monday, according to Kane County court records.

Krista Robson, 20, formerly of Carpentersville and now of Woodstock, pleaded guilty Monday to two felony robbery offenses and was sentenced to five years in prison. It will be served at the same time as a 15-year sentence she received for pleading guilty in Cook County to a separate Elgin case.

According to court records, Robson and Hampton worked together. She would advertise online for sex services to lure men to certain locations and then Hampton would rob them of money, cellphones and ATM cards using a gun or pretending he was armed.

No one was shot, but one man was beaten with a gun in one scheme.

"She would lure males to a location under the guise of prostitution," Kane County Assistant State's Attorney David Belshan said.

Kane County Judge Donald Tegeler accepted guilty pleas from Hampton and Robson.

The pair were charged Dec. 9, 2014, in Carpentersville, and later charged with Nov. 22 and 28 robberies in Carpentersville, and with a late 2014 armed robbery in Cook County.

Robson and Hampton can have their prison terms cut in half for good behavior and get credit for about 427 days in jail while their cases were pending.
