Super Bowl (of chocolates) at Morton Arboretum

Sure it was Super Bowl Sunday.

But folks visiting the Morton Arboretum were willing to skip at least some of the four-hour pregame show for a chance to create their own Super Bowl of chocolate treats during the Lisle-based museum's annual Chocolate Expo.

Event organizers, of course, put their own spin on the two-day expo to remind us it really does have a connection to trees.

"The Morton Arboretum champions all trees, and this winter we're celebrating a giving-tree, the cacao tree, which gives us the delight of chocolate," they wrote on their website. "Pick up a Valentine's gift, stock up for your Super Bowl party, or simply treat yourself."

Not that most visitors needed an excuse to step away from the tube to check out the offerings of 20 vendors with names like Chocolate Inspirations, Covered in Chocolate and Tiddleywink Toffee.

With a smile on her face, Heather Haacker of Sycamore said, "We are having a ball, buying presents for friends and getting fat." Haacker attended the expo Sunday with her friend Tracy Lesiak of Cortland.
