County board candidate well prepared

This upcoming primary offers Lake County District 5 Republican voters some real choices. I believe that our district will be best served by voting for David A. Zipp.

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with David for the past five years when he joined the Gavin District 37 Board of Education. David has proved himself honest, hard working, and diligent in our task on the school board of being good stewards of the community's tax dollars.

David has been an advocate for adding all-day kindergarten to the Gavin academic program, helped facilitate our retirement of an aging bus fleet and maintenance yard in favor or newer leased busses that better protects our students while saving tax dollars, and was a part of the negotiation team that gave a fair raise to our hardworking teachers and staff members.

We did all this at Gavin without raising taxes. Working with David has been a pleasure and his input on the board has been insightful, fair, and has helped us as a board in our attempts at the best decision making possible.

David is a budget hawk, and supports less taxpayer spending whenever possible.

I am concerned that former Lake County Board member from Antioch Judy Martini has recently moved into our area and now seeks to replace our retiring Lake County Board member.

In 1994, when Ms. Martini first joined the Lake County Board, the county budget was $224 million dollars. Each and every year she served (16 total), the budget grew.

We need to elect someone who lives here, works here, and understands us. David Zipp is a former United States Marine, a former federal and state investigator and now a prominent local attorney. Citizens will be well served by electing him to Lake County Board District 5.
