Keep showing how impasse is hurting

In Jan. 20 Daily Herald, there was a very important piece of news buried in the very end of the "Six counties in 60 seconds" section entitled "University will be broke."

The story goes on to say, "Like all of Illinois' nine public universities, Chicago State University is waiting for long-overdue state funding. Come March, the predominately black school on Chicago's South Side says it won't have the money to pay its employees. The problem is shaping up as a wider higher education funding crisis due to the six-month budget standoff".

I read and reread the front section of the Daily Herald and could not find a single story of more import than this one that shows some of the serious consequences of the budge impasse in Springfield.

Keep in mind that our elected leaders have only met for one hour in the past six months to attempt to move forward on a budget.

This trajedy is going to go on until after the election in November but the Daily Herald and other media outlets need to report on the consequences of this political felony on a daily basis on their front pages in blaring headlines.

Just because we know that nothing is going to get done on this, don't let the governor and the heads of the two legislative bodies get away with but a side note on page 9.
