Alex Teixeira set to move to Chinese club in record deal

JIANGSU, China (AP) - Shakhtar Donetsk has confirmed Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira is set to move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for an Asian record transfer fee of 50 million euros ($56 million).
He had been with the Ukrainian club since 2010 after signing from Brazil's Vasco da Gama.
The deal, confirmed Friday, continues a major spending spree by Chinese clubs, where the transfer window stays open until Feb. 26.
It was the third time in the current window that the Chinese transfer fee record had been broken, following the moves of Ramires from Chelsea to Jiangsu and Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid to Guangzhou Evergrande.
