Russia's Tuktamysheva will not defend world title in Boston

MOSCOW (AP) - Russian figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva will not defend her world title in Boston this year, Russian media quoted her coach as saying Thursday.

The 19-year-old Tuktamysheva failed to make the three-woman Russian team for last month's European Championships, where the Russians took all three women's medals.

Her coach, Alexei Mishin, told Russian media that Tuktamysheva "definitely will not take part in the world championships," which begin at the end of March.

She will be part of the Europe squad competing in a team event in Spokane, Washington, in April, Mishin said.

Evgenia Medvedeva, Elena Radionova and Anna Pogorilaya swept the medals at the European Championships in Slovakia. Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova also has returned to competition following a long injury layoff.
