No. 23 Florida women edge No. 12 Texas A&M 83-81

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Ronni Williams scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and No. 23 Florida held off No. 12 Texas A&M 83-81 on Thursday night.

Courtney Williams stole the ball for the Aggies with seven seconds left but Jordan Jones missed a shot at the buzzer.

Simone Westbrook added 15 points for the Gators (19-4, 7-3 SEC), who were coming off a win over then 12th-ranked Kentucky and had never beaten A&M.

Courtney Walker had a career-high 31 points for the Aggies (15-7, 5-4), who lost to No. 2 South Carolina on Monday.

The Aggies led 36-31 at the half as Walker scored 15 points and pushed it to eight at the 5:41 mark of the third quarter.

Ronni Williams, who surpassed 500 career rebounds, scored 11 points as the Gators charged back with a 34-point quarter to take a 65-60 lead. Florida took a lead 57-56 on a 3-pointer by Dyandria Anderson, who had 12 points, at the 1:30 mark and Ronni Williams added a free throw as Chelsea Jennings received a technical foul on the play.

The Gators went up 71-64 with 6:21 to play but Walker converted a 3-point play at 5:58 to start the Aggies' comeback. Courtney Williams hit a jumper at 4:09 to make it a one-point game and Walker put A&M up 76-75 at 3:06.

Westbrook quickly answered for the Gators but the Aggies regained the lead 79-77 on a 3-point play by Taylor Cooper at 2:37. Eleanna Christinaki's basket tied it and her two free throws at 1:53 put the Gators on top and after a steal byCarla Batchelor, Westbrook pushed the lead to four at 1:02.

Walker's jumper pulled A&M within two but after a Florida turnover Courtney Williams missed a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left. After a review, the ball went to Florida and Williams made another steal, giving the Aggies one last chance.

Walker surpassed 20 points for the 30th time in her career, tying Danielle Adams' school record.
