Oregon State QB transfers to NIU

DeKALB - Quarterback Seth Collins, who started seven games for Oregon State as a true freshman in 2015, is now a Huskie.

Collins on Thursday committed to Northern Illinois, opting to transfer after throwing for 936 yards and 6 touchdowns last season for Oregon State. On the ground, he added 108 carries for 580 yards and 8 touchdowns.

"We're really happy to have Seth, he's a quality, quality young man," said NIU Head Coach Rod Carey in a Thursday press release. "He's obviously a fantastic football player and a great quarterback, and he comes from a great family who we have gotten to know during this process. We look forward to having him on campus with the rest of the class this summer and to 2017 when he will be eligible to suit up and play for us."

Collins is a graduate of Granite Hills High School in San Diego.

Coming off an 8-6 season and a sixth consecutive MAC West title, the Huskies will open the 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3, when they travel to Wyoming. Spring football practice begins on Tuesday, March 22.
