Five injured, one critically, in Long Grove crash

One person was in critical condition and four others injured Wednesday night when a car collided with a SUV in Long Grove, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9:05 p.m. when a 2005 Toyota Camry driving east on Lake-Cook Road attempted to turn left on Hicks Road and was struck by an oncoming 2005 Ford Expedition in the intersection, according to Lake County Sheriff's police.

The driver of the Toyota was taken by paramedics to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with critical injuries, authorities said. Four of the six occupants in the Ford were transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with nonlife threatening injuries, according to sheriff's police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
