Irish artist's Chicago-inspired exhibition on display in Bartlett Village Hall

Artist Lisa Callaghan and her family immigrated to Bartlett from Ireland in 2014.

When the family took their first trip from the suburbs to downtown Chicago, Callaghan decided to capture their experience with the Windy City as a body of work that is now on display in Bartlett Village Hall's second floor art gallery.

The exhibition, titled Streets, will be in the gallery from until Feb. 29, and an artist reception will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16.

Callaghan says she finds inspiration for her oil paintings from discovering new cities and their natural and man-made structures. Her paintings include prominent Chicago landmarks like the Chicago Theatre, Marina City and the city's skyline.

The Bartlett Village Hall gallery hosted another one of Callaghan's exhibitions, Reflections, in November 2014. Reflections featured paintings of Ireland, which she said she still "holds a very sacred place" in her heart.

Callaghan's Feb. 16 reception is free and open to the public.
