Feb. 18: CLC hosts U.S. Minority Contractor Association meeting

The College of Lake County will host the monthly meeting of the U.S. Minority Contractor Association from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 in Room C005 (C Wing Auditorium) at the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

The meeting is open to the public and will be attended by CLC officials and local government representatives as well as association members and other Lake County businesses.

The meeting is a result of the college's interest in increasing the usage of Lake County Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, including local and veteran owned companies. In September 2015, the CLC Board of Trustees revised its procurement policy, setting a Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) goal for all construction contracts exceeding $50,000.

"Keeping in line with our mission to serve our community, the college is partnering with organizations to identify businesses that operate within the DBE targeted market. This meeting is just one example of our efforts to reach out to all sectors of Lake County business," said CLC President Dr. Jerry Weber.

Because of campus construction, attendees should enter the B Wing and proceed to the lower level of the C Wing.

As part of the meeting, CLC officials will discuss the bidding opportunities included in college's $163 Sustainable Campus Master Plan as well as ongoing purchasing needs. To learn about the CLC procurement policy and how to become a vendor, visit www.clcillinois.edu/aboutclc/depts/bus.
