Glenbard North to present 'The Snow Queen'

For its winter production, Glenbard North High School presents Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen."

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 11 to 13, in the Little Theatre at Glenbard North, 990 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream.

"The Snow Queen's" timeless appeal lies in Andersen's wonderful language.

"On winter nights when, we are asleep, she flies silently through the streets and alleyways. Sometimes she stops to look through a window, and when you get up the window is covered with flowers of frost, for she has breathed on the glass," the tale reads.

The Snow Queen casts her icy spell upon the world, turning young Kay's heart to ice as she whisks him away to her Palace of Ice at the very top of the world. Kay's friend, Gerda, goes to search for him. The action moves through forests, castles and dungeons, with Gerda finally reaching the Ice Palace in this fast-paced play.
