St. Isidore to offer full-day preschool

St. Isidore Catholic Grade School will offer all-day preschool starting with the 2016-17 school year.

Principal Cyndi Collins said the decision to expand the school's current half-day preschool to full-day for 3- and 4-year-olds is in response to demand expressed by parents through a survey conducted last fall. More than 65 percent indicated they would use a full-day preschool.

"Our school board voted to add full-day preschool as a way to meet the needs of our current families and other families in the local area in need of full-day preschool," Collins said. "We have been considering this for the past couple of years. But now, due to increasing inquiries as well as the results of our survey, the board decided it was time to do so starting with our 2016-17 school year this coming August."

Parents can have their child attend half-day preschool from 8 to 11 a.m. three or five days a week, Collins said. Those needing full-day preschool will be required to have their child attend five days per week. Preschool students also still will be able to attend before-school care, from 7 a.m. until the start of school at 8 a.m., and after-school care, from 2:55 to 6 p.m., at St. Isidore, 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale.

Preschool tuition for 2016-17 will be $4,900 annually for five full days, $2,480 annually for five half-days, and $1,995 annually for three half-days.

Katie Bocek is St. Isidore's preschool teacher, with Pam Martin as the aide.
