Mets trade outfielder Darrell Ceciliani to Toronto Blue Jays
TORONTO (AP) - Outfielder Darrell Ceciliani has been acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the New York Mets for cash.
The 25-year-old hit .206 with one home and five steals in 68 at-bats as a rookie last year. He batted .345 with 19 doubles, four triples, nine homers and 16 steals in 70 games with Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.
A fourth-round selection in the 2009 amateur draft, Ceciliani was designated for assigned Jan. 27 to clear a roster spot when the Mets finalized their $75 million, three-year contract with Yoenis Cespedes.
The trade was announced Tuesday.
