Nonconference wins for Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove

Jack Vaselaney made three 3s and Jimmy Trieb spurred a big Buffalo Grove finish, scoring 7 of his game-high 12 points in the fourth quarter as the host Bison pulled away from Maine West for a 50-35 nonconference victory Tuesday.

Buffalo Grove (8-13) scored 22 points in the fourth quarter. Colin Calcagno (9 points) hit one of his two 3s in the period, and Demetri Lomnick had a pair of field goals.

Chris Tsevis had a pair of 3s for the Bison, scoring all of his 8 points in the first three quarters.

Jon Beaver paced Maine West (3-19) with 10 points, and Marion Johnson had 6.

Elk Grove 70, Maine East 54: The host Grenadiers found themselves in a close game at the half, but the second half took care of that.

The Grens (13-8) scored 44 points in the second half to pick up a comfortable nonconference victory.

Fulton Wingba (17 points), Tyree Howard (15) and Joe Gatziolis (14) led the way for Elk Grove, which forced 22 turnovers but only committed 2 of its own.

Jordan Irving scored 16 points to lead the way for Maine East (13-10).
