Ex-prosecutor's children testify in Quincy murder trial

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Two children of a former Illinois prosecutor accused of killing his wife in 2006 have testified they saw their mother alive when forensic evidence suggests she was dead.

Former Adams County assistant state's attorney and University of Illinois football captain Curtis Lovelace has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in Cory Lovelace's death.

The (Quincy) Herald-Whig (bit.ly/20Ejf0i ) reports that both 17-year-old Lincoln Lovelace and his 18-year-old brother testified Monday that their mother was alive when they left for school the morning of her death.

But their 22-year-old sister said she couldn't say "100 percent" that Cory Lovelace was alive then.

A special state prosecutor handling the case argues that Curtis Lovelace suffocated his wife.

Forensic experts are scheduled to testify in the case Tuesday and Wednesday.
