Citizen police academy

The second annual Round Lake Beach citizen police academy will begin May 10, and meet one night a week for 10 weeks. Criminal law, gangs and drugs, firearms, less lethal weapons, subject control, Illinois vehicle code, traffic stops, investigations and communications/lockup are among the topics to be covered by Round Lake Beach police officers who will teach the classes. The academy will culminate with a graduation Aug. 2, at the village's National Night Out event. Space is limited to 20 participants. Applications are available at www.villageofroundlakebeach.com.
