Girl approached by stranger in Schaumburg

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 reported a "stranger danger" incident to parents after a woman repeatedly offered a girl a ride to catch the school bus she'd missed Monday afternoon near the intersection of Weathersfield Way and Dogwood Court in Schaumburg.

The woman was driving a gold, four-door car near the bus stop, according to a message on the school district website. The girl's mother saw the car and told the driver the girl didn't need a ride, and the woman drove away.

The mother also reported the interaction to Schaumburg police, who are investigating and will provide an extra police presence in the area, the district states.

"We enjoy an outstanding relationship with the school district and always put their needs and requests as a top priority," Schaumburg police Lt. Shawn Green said.
