Rotering for Congress

I wish to add my name to those of Sen. Dick Durbin, Judge Abner Mikva, and many others who are supporting Nancy Rotering for Congress.

Nancy is the one candidate with a long record of achievements and success in government. You may have heard, as Highland Park mayor, she was instrumental in passing a gun control ordinance that recently approved by the U.S. Supreme Court. She also instituted major reforms of city government which increased accountability and transparency.

Nancy is fiscally responsible. As mayor she has balanced four budgets, maintained the Aaa bond rating that saves millions in interest payments, and updated the pension plan for public safety workers.

Health care is an issue that affects everyone, and Nancy has unique experience managing a large health care plan. With a diabetic son, she knows the importance of having coverage that is both comprehensive and affordable. The Affordable Care Act was a good start to make this possible for everyone, but only a start. Like Medicare, the ACA can evolve into an even better program as time goes on.

Nancy is a mom to four boys who, as she did, have gone to public schools. In her view, it is the duty of government to make public schools better, with good teachers and more secure funding.

She believes that every child should have access to a good, safe, school.

The state of Israel is very close to her heart. That does not mean she agrees with every policy of the current government of Israel. She believes that only way to bring peace is with a two-state solution. It should seek to become closer with other nations rather than isolating itself and causing a rift with its best ally, the United States.

I urge the voters of the 10th District to go to Nancy's website, http://www.nancyroteringforcongress.com, and learn more about her and her campaign. It will be well worth your time.
