Helfand's 3s pace Vernon Hills against Round Lake

Senior Jake Helfand sank seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points as Vernon Hills' boys basketball team defeated host Round Lake 79-50 in North Suburban Conference Prairie Division action Saturday night.

Tanner Tolari added 13 points, including three 3s, for Vernon Hills (11-13, 5-4). Andrew Daguinsin had 9 points with a pair of 3-pointers for the Cougars.

Round Lake (3-17, 0-9) got 21 points, including two 3s, from Michael Green. Juquwon Morens chipped in 12 for the Panthers.

Antioch 63, Wauconda 50: Senior guard Trevor Koch led all scorers with 21 points to help the Sequoits past the visiting Bulldogs in North Suburban Prairie play.

Danny Brito had 11 points for Antioch (9-12, 4-5), which used a 23-point effort in the fourth quarter to stay ahead of the Bullldogs. Nathan Borries scored 10 points for Antioch.

Wauconda's top scorer was Danny Stanley with a season-high 15 points, and Jarod Stonis finished with 12. Bryan Nee contributed 9 points for the Bulldogs (5-12, 2-6).
