Apply to build the Ragdale Ring

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists' residency program in Lake Forest, invites architects, designers and artists to apply for the opportunity to design, build, and exhibit the 2016 Ragdale Ring, a temporary outdoor theater to house summer concerts, performances and events.

Ragdale seeks proposals for a full-scale project and installation that consider contemporary, fanciful and functional interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912 as a garden theater. A jury of architects, artists and arts administrators will select a single project to realize at full scale on the Ragdale grounds.

The recipient will receive a $15,000 production grant to fund the project. The design/build residency includes a large studio, room and board for up to 13 individuals for 18 days in May and June.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 19. The winning team will be notified on Friday, March 11. Off-site production will take place in March and April, with the winner's design/build residency taking place May 23 to June 10. Ragdale is at 1260 N. Green Bay Road, Lake Forest.
