Women's self-defense training

Hawthorn Woods police will host a women's self-defense program from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 24 to March 16, at the village barn, 2 Lagoon Drive. This interactive program provides training in recognizing and responding to dangerous situations, and techniques for defending against and escaping attacks. Participants will learn how projecting confidence through body language can make you less of a target. This class is beneficial for women headed to college, or who live or travel alone. Fees are $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents. Spots are limited. Visit http://www.vhw.org/.
