12-year sentence for Addison heroin dealer

A 30-year-old Addison man was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Orlando Pacheco-Ramos, of the 400 block of Stevens, is the last of four men charged with felony drug offenses to be sentenced after their arrests in 2014 as part of a multiagency probe into heroin sales. Pacheco-Ramos must serve 75 percent of the sentence handed down by DuPage County Judge John Kinsella.

Pacheco-Ramos was charged along with three Elgin men: Luis Hernandez, 48, of the 200 block of Comstock Drive; Andres Hernandez, 24, of the 10 block of Lynch Street; and Jose Hernandez, 28, also of the 10 block of Lynch Street. Luis Hernandez is the father of both Jose and Andres.

Authorities said all four men were involved in a drug transaction in Addison on July 23, 2014, in a shopping center parking lot near Irving Park and Rohlwing roads.

Authorities then stopped a vehicle driven by Pacheco-Ramos and recovered seven kilograms of heroin with a street value of roughly $1.4 million. More than $60,000 also was recovered from his residence.

Luis Hernandez and Andres Hernandez both pleaded guilty to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and were each sentenced to six years in prison. Jose Hernandez was sentenced to 20 years in prison in July 2015.
