Kaneland United SC opens registration for spring soccer

Kaneland United SC has opened registrations for spring 2016 programs, including Recreational Soccer, TOPSoccer, Little Knights Soccer, Academy Soccer and tryouts for the 2016-17 competitive soccer season.

The recreational program is for boys and girls ages 5 to 17 and includes six games from April 30 to June 4, free skills clinics with club trainers for registered players, and full uniforms for new players.

All games and practices are held at Kaneland High School in Maple Park. Games are played between 9 a.m. and noon Saturdays. Each team typically practices one evening per week.

KYSO's Recreational program features small sided games, balanced teams and skills clinics for player development and is focused on providing a fun and enjoyable experience for players and families.

Registration is $95 before Jan. 31 and $115 after Feb. 1. Registration closes Feb. 29. Multiplayer and returning player discounts are available.

TOPSoccer, the Outreach Program for Soccer, is a national soccer program for special-needs players providing meaningful learning, development and physical participation opportunities for young athletes through soccer. As part of KYSO's community involvement programs, TOPSoccer is provided free for special-needs players.

Little Knights is a clinic style introduction to soccer program for boys and girls ages 3 and 4. The program teaches basic soccer skills through games and activities.

Five 45-minute Little Knights classes are provided Saturday mornings and weeknights and are led by club staff. Registration fees are $65 by Feb. 29 and include a soccer jersey and five classes.

Volunteer coaching positions are also available and a coach training session and orientation will be held in early March. Email Rachel Zimmerman at rzimmerman@kanelandsc.com for details on coaching recreational soccer.

The academy program provides boys and girls ages 7 to 9 with opportunities to improve their technical soccer skills in a zero pressure environment. It is a bridge to higher levels of play.

Academy players are led by licensed soccer trainers who emphasize the individual player's development. The spring program is $200 and includes five intrasquad games and three hours of weekly training.

Kaneland United SC is preregistering players for the 2016-17 competitive soccer season. The club participates in the Northern Illinois Soccer League, the Illinois Women's Soccer League, regional tournaments and winter programs.

Teams are led by a licensed coach and club soccer trainers. Players interested in trying out must register on the club website at www.KanelandSC.com and participate in assessments in May.
