Reed helps Vanderbilt women slip past No. 12 Kentucky 71-69

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Christa Reed scored 19, including two of her season-high five 3-pointers in the final 1:26, to lead the Vanderbilt women past No. 12 Kentucky 71-69 Thursday night, snapping a nine-game skid against the Wildcats.

Rebekah Dahlman added 18 points, Rachel Bell scored 15 and Marqu'es Webb had eight points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for Vanderbilt.

A layup by Alexis Jennings put Kentucky (15-4, 4-4 Southeastern Conference) up one with 2:38 to play.

Reed hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Commodores (15-5, 4-3) up 70-65 with 23 seconds left.

Makayla Epps made two free throws and then a layup to trim Kentucky's deficit to one with 15 seconds remaining, but Minta Spears made 1 of 2 foul shots and Webb blocked a potential winning jumper by Kentucky's Janee Thompson with two seconds to go.

Epps led the Wildcats with a season-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Evelyn Akhator scored 12.
