Two charged with attempting to deliver cocaine in Arlington Heights

A Cook County judge on Thursday set bail at $60,000 for a Hanover Park man and $30,000 for a co-defendant accused of intending to distribute cocaine in Arlington Heights.

Antione Davis, 31, of Hanover Park, and Xavier Gamble, 29, of Chicago are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. If convicted, they face up to 30 years in prison.

At 5:18 p.m. Wednesday, Arlington Heights police observed Gamble make a traffic violation as he turned into a parking lot, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.

Police observed the men leave the car, which was a rental, and call for an Uber, Shin said. They also observed the men making "furtive movements," he said.

Police recovered 32.3 grams of cocaine from Davis and 43.8 grams of cocaine from Gamble, Shin said.

Gamble was on court supervision for a DUI at the time of his arrest, Shin said. Davis has convictions for DUI in 2003, 2008, for which he was sentenced to 60 days in jail, and 2010, Shin said, adding that Davis on 13 occasions failed to appear in court on those earlier charges.

The men next appear in court on Feb. 25.
