Hanover Park man gets probation for Palatine burglary

A 21-year-old Hanover Park man was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a Palatine burglary.

Jose Rojas-Alocer was sentenced to 30 months of probation Monday through the Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities program available for nonviolent offenders who have substance abuse problems, court records show.

Rojas-Alocer was also ordered to pay $654 in fines.

The sound of someone removing a screen from a window of a Palatine residence on June 20, 2015, alerted the homeowner. He confronted Rojas-Alocer, who authorities say stole an iPad and a baby monitor and fled.

He entered a vehicle, which the homeowner described to police. They located Rojas-Alocer and the items as part of a separate investigation, prosecutors said.
