Batavia library to host science and art fair

The Batavia Public Library will host a "Science & Art Fair" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Families with children in preschool through eighth grade are invited to explore a variety of exhibits and participate in a number of activities provided by local organizations.

Participating organizations include Water Street Studios, Kane County Forest Preserve District, DuPage Children's Museum, Fox Valley Wildlife Center, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Arts, and Pushing the Envelope Farm, as well as cast members of the Rotolo Middle School winter musical.

Children will have the opportunity to create a milk and soap painting, explore a sensory exhibit of feathers, skulls, and animal pelts; meet three live animal ambassadors; experiment with electricity, microscopes, and bean plants; play a mineral match game; and make their own balm. All activities are suitable for preschool aged and older children.

Registration is not required for this free event. For more information call the library's Youth Services department, (630) 879-1393, ext. 500.
