Buffalo Grove police collect water

Buffalo Grove police are collecting cases of bottled water to deliver police and fire personnel in Flint, Michigan, where the water supply is contaminated with elevated levels of lead. "This is what professionals do in a time of crisis. We step up and help each other," Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steven R. Casstevens said in a news release. When the contamination came to light, Casstevens contacted Flint Police Chief James Tolbert to offer assistance. Tolbert told him the water situation was having a catastrophic impact on the community, as well as on the first responders working to keep residents safe. Full cases of bottled water can be donated and dropped off at the Buffalo Grove Police Department, 46 Raupp Blvd., 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Donations will be accepted until 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29. A team from the police department has volunteered to deliver the water collected to the police department in Flint.
