Robbery victim shot multiple times in Waukegan

A man was shot multiple times in an armed robbery in Waukegan, police said.

Police were called at 8 p.m. Friday to the 500 block of Archer Avenue for a person seriously injured after being shot, officials said in a news release.

The victim, 56, was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by two men - one black, one Hispanic -- both in their late teens or early 20s. The victim attempted to defend himself and was then shot multiple times, police said.

Police warned that no amount of money is worth such serious harm. Anyone with information should call Waukegan Detective Jerry Grzeda at (847) 596-5471.
