Medical building to open on Randall in Geneva

Many of you have been wondering what that new building along the Randall Road corridor on Keslinger Road in Geneva is going to be.

If you've guessed an office complex, you're right. The building, 2800 Keslinger Road, will be home to medical offices called the Keslinger Medical Campus.

It is expected to open this spring, said Jake Finley, leasing agent at CONLON Commercial, a Chicago-based real estate firm that is leasing the building.

The steel is up and the walls should be erected in the next few weeks, he said. Crews broke ground on the property in July 2015. Developers have already secured one tenant for the building - a family and cosmetic dentistry practice leased by Dr. Tom Skoumal.

Finley said they are seeking others to move into the complex. In all, the building can house seven different offices.

Finley said they picked this spot for the new office building because of its proximity to the Delnor Hospital campus, which is close by at 300 Randall Road. The hospital entrance is adjacent to the new building, he said.

"We see it as an opportunity for doctors on campus, who don't need to be on campus any longer, to save 30 to 40 percent of their costs," Finley said.

"Also, we see a migration of doctors moving west, and this building is a great alternative to the campus and still benefits the hospital because the doctors who land in our building will obviously use the services of the hospital, as will their patients," he said.

Another one gone:

The Gap and Gap Kids stores in Algonquin Commons are closed for good now.

The last day of business for the clothing and shoe stores was Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Leading up to the closing there were deep discounts and sales as the store sold off its merchandise.

If you still want to shop at Gap, the store along the Randall Road corridor in Geneva Commons remains open and employees say they haven't heard about any plans to close. That store is at 214 Commons Drive, Geneva.

Show off your deals:

This winter, Algonquin Commons wants to see the goods you are getting at their mall. If you show off your purchases on social media, you could even win a gift card.

The mall is sponsoring an I Bought it at Algonquin Commons promotion. Throughout January, you can post pictures of your purchases, along with the hash tag #iBoughtItAtAC, to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Algonquin Commons will then pick random winners from the posted pictures to win the gift cards. For example, someone posted a picture of her gluten-free pizza from Biaggi's and won a $25 gift card to the Commons.
