NIU Steel Pan Studio to perform 'Music in the Gallery' at Norris Cultural Arts Center

The Norris Cultural Arts Center gallery will fill with the sunny sounds of the eight-member Northern Illinois University Steel Pan Studio at the next "Music in the Gallery" series concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.

In a program of 11 numbers, covering a variety of musical genres, the Steel Pan Studio ensemble will present a version of the world famous NIU Steel Band "sound" perfectly scaled to the intimate setting of The Norris gallery. While small in numbers, the ensemble includes NIU students from five countries - Japan, Trinidad, Tobago, Antigua and the U.S.

Concert attendees also will enjoy viewing the "Fly Away" art exhibit currently on display through Feb. 28 in The Norris gallery.

Concert admission is $15 or $10 for children under 12. For tickets, call (630) 584-7200 or visit www.NorrisCulturalArts.com.
