Obama earned his vacation

I feel it more than necessary to respond to a letter written by Karen Goettsche on Jan. 4 where she complains about President Obama spending money on a vacation.

Whether you like President Obama or not, he has accomplished some great feats while in office, such as the Affordable Care Act, the bailing out of the auto industry which has kept American workers in their jobs and has created a more successful Detroit than ever. He has toughened the emissions standards for coal-fired plants, doubled the amount of fruits and vegetables for school lunches and increased fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks, just to name a few.

Obama is a president of a country with over 300 million souls - his gray hair tells of the pressures he is under each day, and I have to say I resent anyone who would deny any president the right to rest his weary head in the warm sands of Hawaii or deny him the pleasure of walking the cool, grassy slopes of a seaside golf course.

Look again at his accomplishments, and tell me he doesn't deserve a vacation of his choice.
