20-year-old driver seriously injured in crash near Woodfield Mall
A 20-year-old woman suffered what police described as "significant injuries" late Wednesday when her car drove off the road near Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and struck a tree, authorities said.
The woman, whose identity and hometown has not been released, was driving southbound on West Frontage Road toward Woodfield Road at about 10 p.m. when it veered off the roadway and collided with the tree, said Schaumburg police Lt. Shawn Green. She remained in treatment Thursday afternoon for her injuries, he added.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Green said.
