Schaumburg library hosts Shakespeare programs

In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of playwright William Shakespeare's death, the Schaumburg Township District Library will present three free programs in February.

"Shakespeare's Women" will take place from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Adult Classroom on the library's second floor. John Nygro will examine several memorable female characters in Shakespeare's plays.

"Richard III: King and Villain," will be held from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Adult Classroom. John Nygro will compare accurate information about Richard's physical body and contemporary accounts of his personality with Shakespeare's portrayal of him as a malformed, evil manipulator.

"The Bard of Avon" is slated from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25 in the Adult Classroom. This in-character portrayal by Terry Lynch of HFK Presents offers an opportunity to learn about Shakespeare's life, loves and works from "The Bard" himself.
