Schaumburg Library Commemorates Shakespeare's Anniversary with Programs
In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of playwright William Shakespeare's death, the Schaumburg Township District Library will present three programs in February. All are free, but require registration. To register, call (847) 923-3347 or visit the Information Desk on the Library's second floor. All programs take place at the library's Schaumburg location, 130 S. Roselle Rd.
"Shakespeare's Women" will take place from 3-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Adult Classroom on the library's second floor. Shakespeare Lecturer John Nygro will examine several memorable female characters in Shakespeare's plays, focusing on their power, motivations and risks.
"Richard III: King and Villain," will be held from 3-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Adult Classroom. Presenter John Nygro will compare accurate information about Richard's physical body and contemporary accounts of his personality, along with Shakespeare's portrayal of him as a malformed, evil manipulator.
"The Bard of Avon" is slated from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Adult Classroom. Known as "The Bard," Shakespeare penned some of civilization's most beloved plays and poems. This in-character portrayal by Terry Lynch of HFK Presents offers an opportunity to learn about Shakespeare's life, loves and works from "The Bard" himself.
