Sign up for DuPage forest preserve spring, summer camps

Registration is now open for spring and summer day camps for kids and teens through the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. The full- and half-day camps are for ages 4 through 15. Detailed information is available at dupageforest.org/camps.

The camps include:

Camp Danada is held during spring break at the Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton. Kids ages 10 through 14 get hands-on time with the horses while they help with grooming and barn chores, take supervised lead-line rides (weather permitting), and enjoy games and crafts.

Camp FBW for ages 4 through 15 is held in Fullersburg Woods in Oak Brook. Kids learn about plants, animals, bugs, nature art and camping with fun projects and outdoor exploration.

Farmhands is held at Kline Creek Farm in West Chicago. Campers ages 7 through 12 experience how kids lived over a century ago through 1890s games and barnyard and farmhouse chores.

Ranger Adventure Camp meets at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook or Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Wheaton. Kids ages 9 through 12 learn about life as a ranger as they develop archery, fishing, paddling and wilderness-survival skills.

Horse Sense at Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton lets kids ages 10 through 14 get hands-on experiences with horses and a working barn. They also may enjoy horse-related games and crafts and supervised lead-line rides.

Riding Sense is held at Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton. Kids ages 12 through 14 enjoy hands-on experiences with horses and a working barn as well as horse-related games and crafts and daily riding lessons.

Camp Caboose for ages 5 through 7 is held at St. James Farm in Warrenville. Campers step into life on a caboose and explore the surrounding preserve with stories, games and crafts.
