Rabbi Donniel Hartman Speaks at Glencoe's Aitz Hayim on February 19-20

"PUTTING GOD SECOND: HOW TO SAVE RELIGION FROM ITSELF"

Today wars are fought in the name of God. Why does faith in God block our natural moral impulses? How does faith in God interfere with the moral uplift religion ought to provide?

These questions ought to trouble everyone who has hope that religion be a force to improve rather than degrade human behavior.

On February 19th and 20th at Glencoe's Aitz Hayim Center of Jewish Living, 1185 Sheridan Road, Donniel Hartman, president of the Shalom Hartman Institute tackles this issue in his new book, Putting God Second: How to Save Religion from Itself.

In three lecture discussions: Friday evening, February 19; and Shabbat morning and Shabbat afternoon on February 20, Rabbi Hartman will explore this provocative topic.

The public is invited to attend the February 19 presentation at 6:30 pm for $20.00, which includes a gourmet kosher dinner. The February 20 presentation at 10:15am is free (and is part of a Shabbat service beginning at 9:30am). Let the Aitz Hayim office know if you will attend by calling 847.835.3232.
