'CEO Unplugged' to feature U-46 CEO Tony Sanders

How does the superintendent of the second largest school district in Illinois manage the day-to-day challenges he faces each day? What does he do to build trust with over 40,000 students and close to 4,000 employees? How does he work with nearly 4,000 staff and community members to set specific measurable goals for the district's newly developed strategic plan? Find out how U-46 CEO Tony Sanders defines his leadership style at the next Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce popular series, "CEO Unplugged," sponsored by the Grand Victoria Casino.

The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the Fox River Room at the Grand Victoria Casino pavilion, 250 S. Grove Ave., second floor, Elgin. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with luncheon at noon. Questions and networking to follow. Cost $20 for members and $25 for guests. Prior to becoming CEO, Sanders served as the chief of staff for former Superintendent Dr. José Torres. The Elgin resident joined the district as chief communications officer after holding the same title in St. Louis Public Schools. He brings two decades of leadership experience to his current post, having served as acting director for governmental relations and public information for the Illinois State Board of Education and other top posts at the Department of Professional Regulation and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In addition, Sanders is a member of the board of directors of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Bartlett Chamber, and Elgin Noon Rotary Club.

Sanders earned his master of business administration degree from New York Institute of Technology - Ellis College, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

The "CEO Unplugged" luncheon format will include an informal interview with this educational leader ranging from risks he has taken to what keeps him up at night, and more. A quick fire-round of questions follows with opportunity to ask your questions before lunch conclusion at 1 p.m.
