Enjoy 'Wonders of Winter' at Mayslake

Visitors can enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice fishing and snowshoeing at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's free "Wonders of Winter" open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook.

Hit the trails on a pair of snowshoes and meet live birds of prey from Willowbrook Wildlife Center's raptor-education program.

Warm up around an open fire while making s'mores and then step inside Mayslake Hall for games, crafts and exploration of the historic building.

"'Wonders of Winter' provides people with a way to embrace the season and try some new fun winter activities," forest district President Joe Cantore said.

"Ice fishing, snowshoeing and geocaching at this wonderful event for the whole family are great activities that will help people cure their cabin fever," Commissioner Jeff Redick said.

Registration is not required. For more information, call (630) 933-7248.
