'All Lives Matter': Hoffman Estates honors King's legacy

Bearing the theme, "All Lives Matter," the Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission held its 14th annual breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday at village hall.

Phillip Reed, an organizational development speaker and a founder of Destiny Church in Hoffman Estates, delivered the keynote address.

Music was performed by the Christian Tabernacle Church of Roselle and the MLK Cherubs, while the group Sisterhood in Motion gave a flag performance.

The spirit of Monday's event will continue on Thursday, when the Arlington Heights-based Illinois Commission on Diversity and Human Relations will hold a breakfast symposium on Creating Safer Communities Through Innovative Solutions. The event begins at 8 a.m. at the headquarters of Motorola Solutions, 1303 E. Algonquin Road in Schaumburg.

Tickets for Thursday's breakfast cost $50 per person. For details visit icdhr.com or call (630) 771-1707.
