St. Charles East wins boys bowling regional

Senior Cole Cartee rolled a 1,368 series to lead the St. Charles East boys bowling team to the championship of its own IHSA regional tournament Saturday.

The Saints finished with a 6,136 pinfall to beat out second place Lake Park (5,945), third place Streamwood (5,687) and fourth place South Elgin (5,676) which also advanced to next Saturday's Lake Park sectional.

Streamwood's top bowler was senior Anthony Matuszak (1,251) while South Elgin was led by junior Ryan Forsberg (1,317).

Advancing individuals included Geneva's Jordan Soto, Mario Gelfuso and John Zupke, St. Charles North's Alex Mundt, Larkin's Aaron Golden, Elgin's Christopher Conway, St. Edward's Mitchell Modlisz and Jason Allen and Bartlett's Jacob Heiderscheidt.

At Marengo: Huntley advanced Kyle Sieb, Bailey Manczko and Kevin Sieb while Kaneland's Tyler Rowe also qualified for next week's Rockford East sectional.
