No. 10 Arizona State wins 11th straight, 64-37 over Colorado

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona State coach Charli Turner Thorne went into the season stressing what she called "no free bounce."

It's resulted in 11 straight wins and left the 10th-ranked Sun Devils as the last unbeaten team in Pac-12 play.

Quinn Dornstauder had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Arizona State used stifling defense to rout Colorado 64-37 on Friday.

Elisha Davis added 11 points for the Sun Devils (14-3, 5-0), who allowed 26 percent shooting from the field.

"No free bounce means not allowing the person with the ball to be comfortable," Davis said. "Not allowing the person who is in the high post or the wing to get the ball, and if they do, make them work for everything.

"So then they're so tired they can't even focus on making their shots or making that next pass."

That was the case for the Buffaloes (5-11, 0-5), who were no match for that aggressive man defense. Colorado went scoreless for nearly 7 minutes in the first quarter, managed 10 points in the first half and committed 21 turnovers.

Zoe Beard-Fails and Kennedy Leonard each scored nine points in Colorado's sixth straight loss. Top scorer and Arizona native Jamee Swan was held to a season-low four points.

"We weren't able to run our offense in the first half. . They just took us out of everything," Buffaloes coach Linda Lappe said. "We had a tough time making any pass. They got hands in and contested every shot."

Enjoying their highest ranking of the season, the Sun Devils lowered their points allowed in conference games to a Pac-12-best 44.6 by forcing a variety of poor passes, traveling violations and forced shots.

After taking a 4-0 lead, the Buffaloes went nearly 7 minutes without scoring, missing five shots and committing five turnovers in Arizona State's 15-0 run to take the lead for good.

The Sun Devils weren't slowed by top scorer Sophie Brunner being held to eight points in 20 minutes due to illness. The 6-foot-4 Dornstauder responded with her first double-double of the season.

Haley Smith's jumper with 4:18 left allowed Colorado to surpass the school record-low of 32 points, set at Texas in 2009.

It was a disappointing beginning to Swan's final regular-season trip to her home state. The Marana native didn't start for the third time this season. She was 2 of 9 from the field and grabbed four rebounds.

"I thought our team defense continues to be pretty formidable," Turner Thorne said.

Colorado: The Buffaloes are the only Pac-12 team with a losing overall record. . Swan is only the third Arizona native to play for Colorado, joining Lexy Kresl (2011-15) and Lynda Gehrke (1978). . Former Phoenix Mercury draft pick Jamie Carey is in her second season as a Buffaloes assistant coach.

Arizona State: The Sun Devils set a school record earlier this season by allowing six points in the first half to Hartford. . Stanford scored a school-record low 31 against Arizona State earlier this month. . The Sun Devils' record for consecutive wins is 15, set in 2009. They won 14 in a row last season. . Arizona State lost the first eight meetings with Colorado through 1987.

KIDS EVERYWHERE

The game began at 11 a.m. and was played in front of several thousand fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders on a school field trip. The high-pitched chant of "ASU! ASU!" was a near constant in the first half and the "Get Louder" message on the scoreboard produced ear-splitting sound.
