Haviland helps Lakes handle Richmond-Burton
Ellie Haviland had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Lakes' girls basketball team stayed hot with a 55-38 nonconference win over host Richmond-Burton on Friday night.
Freshman Mia Edwards added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks for Lakes (12-6), which extended its winning streak to a season-high four games. The Eagles ended the first half with a 6-0 run to go up 25-20.
"That momentum carried into the third quarter," Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "On another note, very pleased with our assist-to-made-shot ratio."
Lakes, which led 42-30 after three quarters, also received strong efforts from Julia Deferville (7 points, 6 rebounds), Sarah Zellman (6 points) and Izzy Quaranta (6 points, 7 rebounds).
Grant 52, North Chicago 12: Mallory Harrity and McKaylie Krey scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the host Bulldogs cruised in North Suburban Prairie action.
Jordynn Hundley added 7 points for Grant (12-7, 6-1), which won its third game in a row (all this week).
