Reporters, publicists and industry insiders are packing into a theater in Beverly Hills, California, where the Oscar nominations will be announced Thursday morning.

The journalists are waiting for academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and directors Ang Lee, Guillermo del Toro and actor John Krasinki to announce nominees ranging from best original song to the films vying for best picture.

Some surprise nominations could be coming Thursday, since this year's awards season has proved unpredictable so far.

The Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on Feb. 28, with Chris Rock hosting for the second time.
